Water damage was a fantastic opportunity for this Alamden homeowner to remodel her kitchen. Our priorities for the space included: a light, bright space; more storage; incorporate marble countertops; and keep the architectural brick element around the range.

For cabinetry, we chose shaker doors with a bevel in Iceberg White from Columbia Cabinets around the perimeter and Whale Grey for the island because the styling is simple and modern, but also warm and comfortable. Colonial crown molding was a traditional accent that matched the rest of the home’s décor.

The Calacatta marble countertops are the homeowner’s favorite feature, they feel silky and have beautiful movement that is both bold and subtle at the same time. To match this gorgeous stone and tie in the grey island, we suggested a grey porcelain tile with a charcoal brick finish that also loosely connects the brick archway feature around the range. We continued the backsplash up through to the ceiling behind the sink to match the red brick on the adjacent wall. Both the red brick and the grey porcelain tile added an element of rustic charm to what might otherwise have been just an ordinary, traditional kitchen.

In keeping with the rustic theme, our homeowner chose oil rubbed bronze for her hardware and plumbing. Final touches were the farmhouse sink and the red oak floors to match the rest of the house.
